Parenting: ADHD Support
Monday, June 23rd, 2008ADHD support is available to moms who are in need of more information. There are resources that promote awareness to Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and to provide information and as much free practical help as sufferers, both adults and children, and their families.
In the past, ADHD has been attributed to bad parenting or diet. ADHD support shows that this is not the case and research is beginning to find genetic links or brain damage leading to a minor malfunction on a certain part of the brain. It can cause tremendous stress to the sufferer but the whole family as well.
What Your Child Needs
A child with ADHD needs stability both at school and at home. At school, it helps if the child has the same teacher or helper all the time. At home, you can help your child b providing a stable and loving environment. The child needs reassurance at all times and we must realize that sometimes the child cannot help being naughty or difficult at times.
Children with ADHD need constant boosting of self-esteem to learn to believe in themselves. They are not stupid and need love and support from you as a parent. It is important to promote awareness among professionals and the general public with ADHD support as some parents may not even realize their child suffers from ADHD.
